Professional Appraisal Corporation was founded in 1979 by Douglas Wise, whose career in real estate began in 1974 as a licensed salesman in his family’s brokerage. Just a year later, he expanded his expertise into residential property appraisals for local banks. By 1978, Doug was leading a team of appraisers—and one year later, he established Professional Appraisal Corporation to meet the growing demand for trusted, expert valuation services. The name Professional Appraisal Corporation was chosen with intention. Professional reflects more than just experience—it means being an expert, consultant, and certified specialist. It also speaks to our conduct: being reliable, competent, and ethical in everything we do.

From our beginnings in a one-room office in Fairmont, WV, PAC has expanded not only our services but our service area. In 1983, we opened a temporary satellite office in Martinsburg, WV, to provide appraisal services in a booming market. As technology advanced, so did we, and now we operate as a team under one roof in our 3,000 square-foot office in Pleasant Valley, WV. This location houses over 30,000 appraisal files that PAC has performed. Since our beginning, we've continued to expand throughout Northern West Virginia and the Eastern Panhandle, becoming a trusted name in real estate valuation.
